Coastal Plains Research Farm Field Day

The Territory Government is strengthening the Territory’s biosecurity and pastoral land regulations to safeguard key industries against evolving pest and disease threats with amendments to the Livestock Regulations.
Biosecurity Exercise for Northern Australia set to get underway
The Northern Territory Government is stepping up preparedness efforts against emergency animal diseases with a managed biosecurity exercise funded by the Commonwealth Government through the Northern Australian Coordination Network (NACN) from 20 – 22 May 2025.
This month was Bee Pest Blitz, a nationwide campaign to create awareness of exotic and established bee pests and the importance of hive inspections. Territory beekeepers are encouraged to inspect their hives for high-priority exotic pests, like Varroa Mite to help safeguard the NT’s bee populations and agricultural industries.
Fiji and northern Australia collaborate on Tropical Aquaculture Development
The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries has partnered with the University of the Sunshine Coast, Fiji Ministry of Fisheries and SPC division of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Marine Ecosystems on a groundbreaking project aimed at advancing oyster and seaweed farming in both Fiji and northern Australia.

About 1,000 industry representatives gathered in Darwin this week for the NT Cattlemen’s Association's 41st Annual Conference, the Territory’s biggest annual beef industry event. The NTCA is the Northern Territory’s leading primary industry body, representing over 90% of the region’s pastoral sector, and the conference provided a platform to discuss key challenges and opportunities, from biosecurity preparedness to trade expansion and livestock research.
