Snap up a Rec Fishing Grant

Published

The first round of the 2025 NT Recreational Fishing Grants Scheme is now open with eligible organisations able to apply for grants up to $15,000.

The NT Government recognises the social and economic value of recreational fishing for the Territory, generating approximately $144 million for the economy.

The grant program supports not for profit initiatives, with previous projects including fishing clinics and events for kids and people with a disability, educational programs, recreational fishing infrastructure, fishing waste recycling equipment, fish habitat restoration and more.

This grant round provides a total of $100,000 in funding with applicants encouraged to apply for projects that support the recovery of at-risk reef species in the Greater Darwin region, projects and events that can demonstrate high levels of financial or in-kind (e.g. time) contributions, and partnerships between like-minded not-for-profit organisations, or between a not-for-profit organisation and local government council.

This grant round will provide for smaller scale recreational fishing initiatives, with a second grant round catering for larger infrastructure grants of up to $75,000 to open in August 2025.

Applications opened on 31 March 2025 and close on 28 April 2025.
