The finalists for the 2025 NT AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award have been announced, recognising 3 exceptional Territory women and their projects, with the NT winner to be announced at an event at Parliament House on 16 April 2025.
The prestigious AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award, now in its 22nd year, celebrates forward thinking, courageous women who come from communities and various industry sectors across the nation.
The award provides a platform to inspire and support Australian women to use and develop their skills to benefit their industries and communities, and shines a spotlight on innovative ideas and businesses established right here in the Territory.
This year the NT has three exceptional finalists including:

Kristy’s project, Women’s Business aims to empower rural women through health education, collaboration and community building fostering whole-person, whole-community and whole-country healing in regional Australia.
Barbara Clifford
A fifth-generation farming family with extensive experience in professional development and equipping regional leaders with the skills to navigate change and build resilient teams.
Barbara’s project, SHEROES (Supporting Her Empowerment in Regional and Outback Environments) is a professional development program for women in leadership roles in rural, regional and remote regions that aims to address professional isolation; and
Nicole Walsh
An accomplished leader with over 20 years of experience in marketing and events, policy development and property management and is currently head of programs for the Council of Small Business. Nicole’s NEAT Project (Northern Enterprises Accelerating Trade) is a 2-phase project aimed at boosting the export readiness of NT businesses and creating a digital marketplace for NT products.
The NT winner of this prestigious award will receive a $15,000 bursary from platinum sponsor Westpac, for their project in addition to access to professional development opportunities and alumni networks.
The annual AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award acknowledges the significant achievements of women from rural communities and industries by identifying, empowering and celebrating rural women and their forward thinking initiatives with national winners to be announced in August.
The Northern Territory Government has been supporting this award for 22 years, established to highlight and celebrate women from Australia’s rural areas and to support emerging industries, businesses and communities.
