Producers invited to Old Man Plains Field Day
The Northern Territory Department of Agriculture and Fisheries is inviting Central Australian pastoralists, industry representatives and anyone interested in the region’s pastoral industry to attend the Old Man Plains Field Day on Thursday 29 October 2026.
Held at Old Man Plains Research Station, south of Alice Springs, the field day will bring producers and industry together for a day of practical insights, knowledge-sharing and connection.
Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from Department of Agriculture and Fisheries staff, learn about work being undertaken to support the pastoral industry, and take part in a paddock tour showcasing the station and its activities.
The program will also provide opportunities to connect with other producers, discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the industry, and share ideas for the future of pastoralism in Central Australia.
Department of Agriculture and Fisheries CEO Amelia Vellar said Old Man Plains plays an important role in helping us better understand the challenges and opportunities facing Central Australian producers.
'The field day is a great opportunity to bring people together, share knowledge and showcase the work our staff are doing to support a productive and sustainable pastoral industry,' Ms Vellar said.
'We encourage producers and industry representatives to come along, meet the team, see the station firsthand and be part of the conversation about the future of the industry.'
The field day will feature a paddock tour, opportunities to speak directly with departmental staff, and a social dinner to continue conversations and strengthen connections across the industry.
Producers and interested attendees are encouraged to reserve their spot in advance.
