Indonesian agriculture delegation welcomed to the NT
The Northern Territory (NT) Department of Agriculture and Fisheries welcomed the Indonesian Ambassador, His Excellency Dr Siswo Pramono, and a delegation of senior Indonesian officials from the Ministry of Agriculture of Indonesia to the Territory to continue to strengthen agricultural trade ties.
The visit reinforces the close partnership between the NT and Indonesia, and the mutual commitment to a secure, sustainable and reliable cattle and buffalo trade.
Indonesia is the NT’s number one live cattle market, receiving around 90% of NT exports.
The NT cattle industry is worth around $1.2 billion to the Territory economy, and strengthening these relationships is crucial to supporting investment, jobs and long-term market confidence.
Hosting the Indonesian delegation provided an opportunity to showcase the NT’s capability, from our strong biosecurity systems to our world-class livestock production and supply chain infrastructure.
Industry partners, including the Northern Territory Cattlemen’s Association and the NT Live Exporters’ Association, joined activities throughout the visit, including to key livestock and research facilities, reflecting the strong government–industry collaboration underpinning northern livestock trade.
The delegation’s visit highlights the importance of the NT as a strong trading partner and supports broader diplomatic, commercial and agricultural collaboration between Australia and Indonesia.
