Guide to Land Based Fishing now available
A new guide book, Land Based Fishing Guide – Darwin and Beyond, showcasing the best land-based fishing opportunities in and around Darwin has been released today.
Produced by AFANT with support from the NT Recreational Fishing Grants Scheme the guide provides practical tips, local knowledge and safety advice.
Fishers will learn more about land based fishing from jetties, fishing platforms, rocky headlands and tidal beaches across Darwin, Palmerston, Dundee and Katherine.
AFANT CEO David Ciaravolo said the new guidebook will be an invaluable resource for locals and visitors alike.
“At AFANT we are passionate about connecting Territorians and visiting tourists with the great fishing that the Territory has on offer, so we are thrilled to launch the new Land Based Fishing Guide – Darwin and Beyond,” Mr Ciaravolo said.
“Fishing from the shore in the Top End is exciting for visitors and a valued part of the Territory lifestyle, but new spots can be a bit tricky at first, with big tides, seasonal changes, and the need to be Crocwise.”
“The new guide provides photos and tips for fishing at different tides, as well as advice on the best fishing techniques and key messages to help people stay safe.”
Fishing and Outdoor World owner and long-time recreational fishing advocate Ronald Voukolos said the guide will be a valuable resource for both visitors and locals.
"Darwin and the Top End is famous for its fishing and this guide will be a great tool to help visitors and locals alike unlock the secrets to this fishery,” Mr Voukolos said.
'Where can I go fishing around here?' If I only had a dollar for every time I get asked that! This land based fishing guide is going to be so helpful, well done AFANT."
The Land Based Fishing Guide – Darwin and Beyond is now available at local tackle shops and the Top End Visitor Information Centre.
