Duxton Farms Limited, a national farming investor, has executed the lease agreement to develop the remaining portion of the 28,000-hectare Wildman Agricultural Precinct from the Northern Territory Land Corporation.

The acquisition follows Duxton Farms securing 2,386 hectares of the Precinct in mid-2024 to develop a range of farming operations including livestock, broad acre, and horticultural crops.

The Wildman Agricultural Precinct located 135km east of Darwin represents a significant development opportunity and comprises four areas of land including NT Portions 2623, 2624 and 3611 which are available on long-term lease, and NT Portion 5088 which has been purchased through freehold sale as part of the development.

The Northern Territory Government has facilitated this development by completing thorough land suitability assessments and advice on land tenure, regulatory approvals processes and stakeholder engagement.

The Wildman Agricultural Precinct has the capacity to accommodate multiple agricultural and horticultural activities and high yield crops such as mangoes and melons as well as forestry, and other crops such as sorghum alongside cattle production.

The Duxton Farms acquisition of the Wildman Agricultural Precinct is a huge step for agricultural development in the Territory and will provide horticulture, broadacre development and pastoral opportunities within the precinct.

The Wildman Agricultural Precinct will be key in employing a regional workforce and attracting agricultural investment with the lease expected to generate great economic stimulus into the region through further investment into farming infrastructure and working opportunities for Territorians.

Along with progressing the Larrimah Agricultural Precinct and the extension of the Ord River Scheme development into the Territory, these projects are a key part of the Territory Government’s commitment to Rebuild the Territory economy.

They are an important step to ensure the Territory develops sustainable solutions for its agricultural and horticultural industries.
