Annual bull and cow sale
The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF) annual bull and cow auction was held earlier this month offering high quality cattle selected for fertility and bred for the Territory’s conditions and markets.
The annual bull sale held from 7-9 July 2025 offered an opportunity for quality northern genetics to be shared with industry.
This years’ sale included 29 Brahman bulls, 11 Composite bulls, 72 Brahman cows and 79 Composite cows.
The animals are a product of DAF’s long term selective breeding program and genetic research projects.
The decades long breeding programs have focused on selecting traits relevant to Territory environmental conditions and live export production systems, including fertility, functionality and adaptation.
DAF is committed to supporting and helping the cattle industry grow, so that it can continue its strong economic contribution to our regional communities across the Territory.
