2024 NT Rural Women’s Awards Finalists
The Northern Territory finalists of the 2024 AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award have been announced, recognising 4 exceptional women and their projects with the NT winner to be selected at an event in Parliament House in early April.
This prestigious award now in its 21st year, celebrates forward thinking, courageous women who come from communities and various industry sectors right across the Territory. These awards create opportunities and spotlights innovative ideas and businesses established right here in the Territory.
This year, we have four exceptional Territory’s finalists - Tanya Egerton, Rayleen Brown, Rashida Khan and Rebecca Forrest.
Tanya’s project is focused on expansion of ‘The Remote Op Shop Project’ with First Nations women in the Territory.
Rayleen’s project is focused on skill and micro-enterprise development on-country with Central Australian women in the Indigenous bushfoods industry
Rashida’s project is called ‘Spilling the Tea’ which is aimed at creating new ways for remote and rural Territorians to access mental health and wellbeing programs.
Rebecca’s project ‘Youth on Boards’ focuses on increasing participation of young Territorians on boards and decision making forums.
These annual awards acknowledge the significant achievements of women from rural communities and industries by identifying, empowering and celebrating rural women and their forward thinking initiatives.
The winner of this prestigious award will receive $15,000 from the platinum sponsor of the award, Westpac, towards their chosen project, professional development and mentorship opportunities and will progress to the national awards being held in August
The Northern Territory Government has been supporting this award for 21 years, established to highlight and celebrate women from Australia’s rural areas and to support emerging industries, businesses and communities.
