Handling and releasing manta and devil rays
The Fisheries Division have released their new Handling and Release Guidelines for Manta and Devil Rays (Mobulid Species).
The guidelines have been created with industry input and aims to ensure the safety of fishing crew is priority in all fish handling and release operations.
The publication covers:
- commercial fishing interactions
- do’s and dont’s
- bringing a manta or devil ray on-board a vessel
- releasing a manta or devil ray from the side of a vessel
- recreational fishing interactions.
